TMI EPISODE 3- BHAIRAVGAD (MOROSHI)

What would you call a guy who completely freaks out when he hear a word "TREK" ? A Freak i would say, that is how i describe myself ;) when it comes to trekking. So with this behavior i'm often confused with my trekking destination, and so was i last week too. But i would like to thank one of my trek buddy Madura Kamat who helped me out with this confusion and asked me to join her for Bhairavgad trek, fantastic suggestion it was. Also thanks to Sandesh Chalke who did the registration on my behalf.

The journey started from Nitin Company, Thane with an ice cream treat, followed by the antakshari and with all this things we reached our base camp Moroshi at sharp 02:00 a.m as per our schedule, "Well appreciated".

After getting out of our bus we formed our renowned STRAIGHT CIRCLE :P and commenced with the introduction session and a few safety precautions from our trek leader Aniket Thosar. For those who don't know about Bhairavgad, Moroshi. Well let me tell you first that there are multiple mountains who go by the same name the one i'm talking about is in Malshej. Bhairavgad is a rigid pinnacle which can be seen while traveling through Malshej Ghat near Moroshi. There are two ways through which you can climb this giant wall one is from the right, which is quite tough and is recently bolted by safe climbing initiative India and the other is from the left which leads one to the top through a few broken steps and lots of scree  The top of the fort is created by the geological structure known as DYKE. Bhairavgad happens to be only fort built on a dyke, making it a must see wonder for trekkers.

Recently Krait Snake ("manyar", "kanadar" in Marathi and "karait" in Hindi) has been spotted at Bhairavgad, which is considered as one of the dangerous snakes, whose bite can lead you to death or permanent coma or brain death, so i would suggest everyone to carry a torch with you during night trek. Do not depend on others. You may also spot a few Scorpions, so analyse the whole premise before taking a break or before sleeping in your tents.

Soon after gazing the stars for a while and a little chit chat session we all got into motion and the trek was started. It was a walk through dense forest, while watching for snakes with those flashy torches, also you'll find a bit of exposure and the kinda sound which was created by the blowing wind and the leaves was simply "PRECIOUS" i would comment.

With a few breaks and lots of AO-OA calls we reached our base, fantastic it was. Surrounded with trees giving you a feeling as if you're under some hut. Soon everyone chose a place of their choice and in no time i noticed a few people snoring. Aahh deadly it was.

Carry proper bedding material with you, else you might get your back hurt with those sharp rocks as well carry a warm light weight blanket as the cold during midnight is unbearable. A sleeping bag is the best solution, its light, occupies less space and easy to fold.

Everybody woke up at 05:45 a.m and soon we began with another session of our journey. This time the walk was made difficult by the loose soil, walking over the steep slopes and through the traverse was one of the scariest and challenging stuff to do  but I'm glad that everybody did it without any falls, Great job team. At this point i would specially like to mention our Kaka who at the age of 69 did this whole stuff not at an ease but with a few efforts and with a SMILE on his face, HATS OFF!! KAKA. Now came the most thrilling and my favorite session of the trek, "Climbing" :) i know trekking is not a race where you'll get an award for reaching first on the summit but i have this so called masti/over excitement you can say about rushing ahead but staying behind our trek leads and even this time i did that and made the climb.

The best part of this climb was getting into this small cave in between your climb with a narrow entry and exit points was more of a fun thing to do.

Now with a few broken steps and a deadly walk through the traverse we reached the summit, it was one of the most exciting and thrilling walk. The top was covered with cactus and a few other trees with huge thorns making a walk painful, but don't know why we still kept moving forward and when we reached on the plateau we all realized that the pain was worth just by looking at the view, it was awestruck. It might sound a lil childish but we were also amazed by looking at the shadows of the clouds sweeping ahead. Later we started spotting a few other peaks nearby.

After having our eyes filled with that pleasant view we started descending this time again just cuz of my masti/over excitement i decided to rappel down first and well i did it quite well. On this trek i got an opportunity to help my team leaders at a few places, was feeling great as i'm always keen to work in a team, and love to follow this simple rule All for one, one for all. And with all this stuff a few new comers misunderstood me as one of the coordinator and soon i got everybody's attention ;) hehe :D .

On our way down we found a cistern where all the thirsty throats relieved themselves with this sweet water and refilled their bottles for the rest of the journey. If the climbing and rappelling part was scary for a few people the descend part became difficult for everybody as there was so much of scree that people were literally sliding downwards, a few amongst us resuscitated their childhood, who sat down and slid down bit by bit just to avoid fatal falls and injuries.

As the day was progressing the walk became very much tiring due to dehydration also the sun was on full and in the mean while we accidentally left 5 members somewhere so we started with the AO calls and when they were not answered we moved forward with a belief that they might be too far coming with the back lead but when we reached our base we didn't found them even there so I and Sandesh ran away backwards in search of our mates and soon we found them coming with a villager. Sigh of relief. I would like to apologize them from the bottom of my heart.

So now everyone was at the base, soon without wasting anytime we first had cold drinks session followed by the lunch; truly truly delicious it was and headed back to the pavilion. One of the most exciting journeys of my life ends here educating me with a few things.

And as it is said every story has a happy ending so did our's had :)
